Exhibition Talk - Claude Cahun: Surrealist photographer, writer and resistance fighter

Friday September 4th at 6pm

About this experience

This illustrated talk, by Marcus Williamson, will explore the work of Claude Cahun (1894-1954) who was a Surrealist photographer and writer, described by the movement's leader as "one of the most curious spirits of our time".

Living with her lover and half-sister Marcel Moore (1892-1972) in Nantes, Paris and Jersey, the couple sought, in words and images, to challenge and defy traditional political and gender roles.

This talk considers her life and work in the context of the current Falmouth Art Gallery exhibition "Mirrors: Reflecting on Identity" (16 May-26 September 2026).
